CityJet flight delayed or cancelled?
Don't let airlines get away without compensation!
Claim compensationHow much compensation can I get for a delayed CityJet flight?
The amount of compensation depends on the distance of your flight.
Distance of your flight | Compensation |
---|---|
Flights shorter than 1,500 km | Get £220 per passenger |
Flight between 1,500 and 3,500 km | Get £350 per passenger |
Flights of over 1,500 kilometres within the EU | Get £350 per passenger |
Flights of over 3,500 kilometres outside of the EU | Get £520 per passenger |
When can I claim compensation for a cancelled CityJet flight?
To be able to get flight compensation for your cancelled CityJet flight:
Your flight must have been cancelled fewer than 14 days before the scheduled departure date.
AND
- The airline must have been the party responsible for the cancellation (see the “Extraordinary circumstances”)
When can I claim a refund for my cancelled CityJet flight?
If your flight was cancelled and you did not take the airline's alternative flight, you may be eligible for a CityJet ticket refund. You are also entitled to a ticket refund if you were not offered any alternative flight.
Cancellation notice | Alternative flight | Compensation |
---|---|---|
Fewer than 7 days in advance | Departs 1h+ earlier or arrived 2h+ later | Yes |
7-14 days in advance | Departs 2h+ earlier or arrived 4h+ later | Yes |
Fewer than 14 days in advance | No alternative flight offered | Yes + refund |
CityJet is offering me a travel voucher instead of a refund — should I accept it?
We generally advise against accepting a travel voucher instead of a monetary refund. This is because:
Accepting a travel voucher means you will have to fly with the same airline again. In addition, airlines usually assign a time limit for redeeming a voucher.
If the airline declares bankruptcy, you may be unable to convert your voucher into a cash refund — in other words, your money will be lost.
=> Do you have a CityJet voucher? You may still be able to change it into a monetary refund.
Extraordinary circumstances — can CityJet deny me compensation?
We call extraordinary circumstances situations where the airline is not the party at fault for the delay or cancellation of your flight. If any of the following conditions apply to your CityJet flight delay or cancellation, you may be ineligible for flight compensation (keep in mind that this list is non-exhaustive):
Bad weather conditions, such as thick fog, heavy rain, or thunderstorms.
A strike, most often specifically within the aviation industry (for example, a strike of air traffic control workers at a specific airport).
However, a strike of the airline's crew is not considered an extraordinary circumstance!
Political circumstances, such as a terrorist attack or general security risk due to political unrest.
Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.
A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.
An ill or unruly passenger.
Flight delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.
Watch out! The airline may falsely claim that the delay or cancellation was due to an extraordinary circumstance!
When this happens, we advise you to double-check the information. You can also start your claim with Flight-Delayed.com; no matter what the airline says, our team of experts will investigate your claim and let you know if you can benefit from flight compensation.
