• Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.

• A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.

• An ill or unruly passenger.

• Flight delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.

How long do I have to claim my Japan Airlines compensation and refund?

If your JAL flight departed from the UK, you can claim for up to 6 years after your flight.

However, note that if you were leaving from another European country, different time limits can apply to your flight:

• The law of the country of origin

• The law of the destination country

• The law of the country in which the airline is based
