About Palma de Mallorca Airport

Palma de Mallorca airport, whose official name is Son Sant Joan International Airport, is located in the Playa de Palma area, 8 kilometres from the city centre of Palma de Mallorca. The airport opened in 1960 and has been renovated and expanded several times to meet the growing number of passengers.

Palma de Mallorca Airport is the third most important airport in Spain in terms of passenger numbers. This airport has mostly international traffic, especially during the holiday season. More than 29 million passengers pass through Palma de Mallorca airport every year. The airport consists of a single passenger terminal divided into four independent boarding modules (modules A, B, C and D).

Departures and arrivals as well as check-in desks are located in the main building.

Each module of the terminal is allocated according to the origin of the flights. Flights to non-EU countries, operated by airlines such as Air Algérie or Air Serbia, are handled in Module A. This module is normally closed during the winter as these flights only operate during the summer season. Most flights from all over Europe are handled in Module C. However, due to the increase in air traffic in recent years, low-cost airlines such as Eurowings, Ryanair, and Easyjet also operate in Module D, which was originally intended for mainland flights only.
