List of prohibited carry-on luggage items

Subject to applicable security regulations, for reasons of safety passengers may not take the following items into security-restricted zones or into the aircraft:

1. Firearms and other weapons or devices capable of discharging projectiles. 

Devices capable of discharging projectiles that can cause serious harm, as well as items that appear to be dangerous, such as:

  • All types of firearms, including pistols, revolvers, guns and hunting rifles, toy guns, replica firearms and imitation guns that resemble real weapons
  • Parts of guns and firearms, with the exception of telescopic sights, air guns or CO2 guns, such as pistols, pellet guns, shotguns and BB guns
  • Alarm pistols and starter pistols
  • Bows, crossbows and arrows
  • Harpoons and spear guns
  • Catapult

2. Disabling equipment – devices designed specifically to anaesthetise, stun or immobilise.

3. Sharp or pointed objects that can cause serious injury, such as:

  • Ice picks and ice axes
  • Razor blades
  • Box cutters
  • Knives with blades longer than 6 cm
  • Scissors with blades longer than 6cm, measured from the hinge
  • Martial-arts and self-defence items with sharp points or edges
  • Swards and sabres
  • Crowbars
  • Drills, drill bits and drill chucks, including cordless portable power drills
  • Tools with blades or shafts longer than 6 cm that can be used as weapons, such as cordless portable power saws
  • Saws, including cordless portable power saws
  • Soldering torches
  • Nail guns and staple guns

4. Blunt objects that can be used for hitting and causing serious bodily harm or that can be used to threaten the safety of the aircraft, including:

  • Baseball, softball and cricket bats
  • Clubs and sticks, such as wooden poles, cues, bludgeons and truncheons
  • Martial-arts items

5. Explosives, flammable substances and devices that can cause serious bodily harm or that can be used to threaten the safety of the aircraft.

That includes anything that appears to be capable of causing injury or posing a threat to safety, such as:

  • Ammunition
  • Detonator tubes
  • Detonators and fuses
  • Replicas or imitations of explosive devices
  • Mines, grenades and other military explosives
  • Fireworks and other pyrotechnical materials
  • Smoke canisters and smoke cartridges
  • Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives

6. Liquids, aerosols and gels are prohibited unless:

  • They are in containers no larger than 100ml (3.4 oz.);
  • These containers are in one sealed, transparent, resealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 litre (only one plastic bag per passenger);
  • They are demonstrably required during travel (essential medicines, baby food, etc).

7. Passengers are also prohibited from transporting the following items in checked baggage:

  • Ammunition
  • Detonator Tubes
  • Detonators and fuses
  • Mines, grenades and other military explosives
  • Fireworks and other pyrotechnical material
  • Smoke canisters and smoke cartridges
  • Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives

Other objects and when can security deny you access to the boarding hall.

Security staff may refuse access to security-restricted areas of the airport and/or to the passenger cabin of the aircraft to anyone who is in possession of an item which, even though it does not appear on this list, is of concern to the security staff.

No rights may be derived from this list. The security agent has the right to refuse any article for reasons of safety.
