British Airways faces legal chargers from former employees
Monday, June 8, 2015
A group of former cabin crew workers have now initiated legal action against former employer British Airways, claiming they had been poisoned by contaminated cabin air.The seventeen workers have stated health conditions that were triggered by breathing in fumes mixed with engine oil and other toxic chemicals. However, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says occurrences of smoke or vapor on planes are uncommon and there is no confirmation of long-term consequences to health.
Campaigners say that faults in the cockpit can lead to a release of poisonous gases that can leak into the aircraft cabin. If released in high enough quantities, these gases can be extremely harmful. The worker's lawyers are working with the respective union to further investigate these claims.
