In a sudden announcement on Wednesday afternoon, Morocco banned flights to and from the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands due to the rising number of coronavirus cases. The majority of passengers affected are entitled to a refund.

Some airlines are looking into the possibility of transporting citizens stuck in Morocco back to their countries — but for now, the governments recommend looking for alternative flights via countries not affected by the ban, such as France or Spain.

According to British and European regulations, the majority of the passengers affected by the Morocco flight ban can already claim refunds for their cancelled flights.

This applies to all passengers flying with British or European airlines (e.g. TUI, Ryanair, Wizzair) as well as those flying with Moroccan airlines (Royal Air Maroc) from Europe. Unfortunately, the European refund policy does not apply to passengers flying with Royal Air Maroc back to Europe.
