Singapore Airlines flight compensation — what are my rights?
Because Singapore Airlines is a non-EU airline, your rights to flight compensation are only protected in certain circumstances by British and European regulations.
To be eligible for Singapore Airlines flight compensation, your delayed or cancelled flight must have originated in the United Kingdom or the European Union.

The amount of flight compensation is calculated according to the distance of your flight:

Extraordinary circumstances — can Singapore Airlines deny me compensation?
Even if your flight was delayed for 3+ hours or cancelled at the last minute, Singapore Airlines has the right to refuse compensation if the disruption was caused by a third party or a force majeure. We refer to such situations as extraordinary circumstances.
The following are some of the most common extraordinary circumstances:
Bad weather conditions, such as thick fog, heavy rain, or thunderstorms.
A strike, most often specifically within the aviation industry (for example, a strike of air traffic control workers at a specific airport).
However, a strike of the airline's crew is not considered an extraordinary circumstance!
Political circumstances, such as a terrorist attack or general security risk due to political unrest.
Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.
A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.
An ill or unruly passenger.
Flight delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.

The time limit to file a claim is determined by three different laws:
The law of the country of origin
The law of the destination country
The law of the country in which the airline is based
If your flight originated in the United Kingdom, you have 6 years to submit your flight compensation and refund claims.
When flying from another country, different time limits may apply: if you were on a Singapore Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Singapore, you will only be able to file a claim under Dutch law, which states that you have 2 years to claim flight compensation.
